Institute Schedule

As this is an academic-year experience beginning in September 2024, there will be multiple opportunities for engagement, planning, and implementation. Key events include:

• Institute Kickoff: September 12–13, 2024
• Mid-Institute Event: January 10, 2025
• Closing Capstone Event: April 10–11, 2025

Meeting times each of these days will be from 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

In addition to these events, the institute will offer monthly meetings and webinars throughout the academic year to allow time for teams to interact with other campuses, address timely topics of interest, and provide updates on the status of AI. Each campus team will be assigned a coach from the institute’s faculty. In addition to providing their perspectives, each coach can also connect the team with expertise from other institute faculty members as needed. Asynchronous interactions across campus teams and with the institute’s faculty will be encouraged and facilitated through AAC&U’s online institute platform.

Activities and Action Plans

Teams participating in the institute will complete preparatory work and readings in advance of September 12–13, 2024, to maximize their learning during the online kickoff event. Teams will use their time together in September to discover new approaches and strategize and develop drafts of their AI action plans.

After the kickoff event, teams will be encouraged to meet on their own time to plan further and to begin to enact aspects of their action plans. Institute faculty will be available to attend planning meetings and to provide guidance and perspectives along the way. Monthly meetings and institute faculty consultation sessions will occur throughout the academic year. The conclusion of the institute will take place on April 10–11, 2025. In addition to sharing the progress of each campus AI action plan, this final event will provide guidance and planning to ensure the work developed over the past year continues to accelerate and grow into the new academic year.

Location

All events for the institute will be held online. No travel is required, and scheduling of meeting times will consider time zones to ensure events typically occur during regular business hours for all. All presentations will be recorded and will be made available to institute participants via our online platform.
