Institute Schedule

As this is a seven-month experience beginning in September 2023, there are multiple opportunities for planning, engagement, and implementation. Key events include:

  • Institute Kickoff: September 28-29, 2023
  • End-of-Year Check-In for Planning and Renewal: December 1, 2023
  • Capstone Closing Event: April 18-19, 2024

Meeting times each of these days will be 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

In addition to these events, the institute will also offer monthly meetings and webinars throughout the year to allow time for teams to interact with one another and to address timely topics of interest, such as funding opportunities. Each campus team will be assigned a mentor from the resident faculty. In addition to providing their perspectives, each mentor can also connect the team with expertise from other resident faculty members as well as those beyond the institute who are engaged in this work. Asynchronous interactions between campus teams and with the institute’s resident faculty will be encouraged and facilitated through AAC&U’s online community platform.

Activities and Action Plans

Teams attending the institute will complete preparatory work in advance of September 28, 2023, to maximize their progress when they participate in the online kick-off event. Teams will use their time together in September to discover new approaches, to strategize, and to develop action plans.

After the kick-off event, teams will be encouraged to meet on their own time to further plan and to begin to enact their work. Institute faculty will be available to attend planning meetings and to provide guidance, perspectives, and connections along the way. As teams begin to enact their action plans, the institute will concurrently guide teams toward the achievement of goals each team identified in their application to the institute. The goal is to help campus teams begin to enact these larger plans as our time together unfolds.

Monthly meetings and resident faculty consultation sessions will occur through the seven months of the institute. The conclusion of the institute will take place on April 18-19, 2024. In addition to sharing the progress of each action plan, this final event will provide guidance and planning to ensure the work developed over the previous seven months continues to accelerate and grow beyond the conclusion of the institute.

Location

All events for the institute will be held online. No travel is required for the institute, and scheduling of meeting times will take into account time zones to ensure events typically occur during regular business hours for all. While this event will be held virtually, we are hopeful that there might be opportunities for some participants to gather in person.
