VALUE Assessment Accelerator

Assessment is often viewed as a hurdle to clear, but its true power lies in how we use it to tell the story of student learning. Join us for the VALUE Assessment Accelerator, a hands-on workshop designed to help you move from checking boxes to generating actionable insights.
In this collaborative 4-hour session, we will guide you through implementing VALUE (Valid Assessment of Learning in Undergraduate Education) rubrics, equipping you with a solid foundation in understanding and effectively using them for authentic assessment, ultimately enabling you to use your results to tell a compelling story of student learning that directly informs teaching practices and resonates with stakeholders.

Upon completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

• outline your assessment goal(s) and select your sampling method,
• determine the alignment between a VALUE rubric and an assignment,
• review example processes for collecting student artifacts and useable student and course-level data,
• identify key information to examine more closely for an assessment summary,
• interpret VALUE rubric scores consistently using best practices for authentic assessment, and
• detail two ways in which you plan on using your results to provide meaningful insights into student learning.

Who Should Attend?

VALUE Assessment Accelerator is designed for those who want to use the VALUE rubrics to assess student learning. Attendees can be at any stage of the process of using VALUE rubrics; whether you are new to VALUE rubrics, interested in or already using the VALUE rubrics on your campus, or interested in or already participating in the VALUE Scoring Collaborative. Participants should be prepared to create and discuss their assessment goals, assignment selection, sample selection, and plan for using results.
