The GEPA conference brings together a unique interdisciplinary and global community of educators, scholars, and practitioners.
Programming and Building Community
There are multiple ways to engage with the GEPA community before, during, and after the conference. Beyond presenting on your own work, help shape the conference program by reviewing proposals. Help ensure that each session is generative and interactive by volunteering to serve as a session moderator. Beyond spontaneous conversations over coffee or in the halls between sessions, contribute to fostering community by meeting new potential collaborators and friends over a shared meal or sight-seeing adventure. Help create connections between colleagues united by common interests (e.g., authentic assessment, high-impact practices) or similar contexts (e.g., community colleges, HBCUs, research universities).

Student Engagement
Over the years, student participation has enriched the GEPA conference experience. AAC&U’s advice to colleges and universities engaged in reimaging undergraduate education has always included a push to involve students as co-designers of their own learning experiences. While students have always been welcome as both attendees and presenters, the 2024 Conference will, for the first time, include unique programming geared toward undergraduate students as collaborators in this space as we tackle the thorny issues facing us today. Proposals that include student voices and perspectives—ideally with students as co-presenters—will be prioritized in the proposal review process. The Friday afternoon plenary session will feature a panel of students sharing their perspectives on a range of contemporary educational issues. Finally, AAC&U is collaborating with a group of educators and students themselves to plan student-specific sessions and make available student-facing resources at the conference to ensure that students are full participants in the GEPA community.
Before coming (to the GEPA conference), I didn’t realize faculty talked about these kind of things. It was exciting to hear how much people care about teaching and learning, and helping students be successful.
