Pro-Democracy Teaching & Learning Repository

Democracy is neither inevitable nor self-sustaining. Higher education has an essential role in helping students understand democratic institutions, the norms and practices that sustain them, and our shared responsibility to one another and the public good.

The knowledge, skills, and commitments that sustain democracy must be intentionally taught, practiced, and nurtured. Yet, at a time when democratic learning is more important than ever, many educators face limited time, competing priorities, resource constraints, and political pressures that make this work more difficult.

The Pro-Democracy Teaching & Learning Repository is a growing collection of free, open-source materials that makes it easier for educators to bring democratic learning into courses, student organizations, and campus programs. The collection includes curricular modules, discussion guides, interactive exercises, teach-in materials, and other resources that can be used, adapted, and shared across higher education.

There are two ways to participate:

• Use the repository. Explore the collection. Download what you need. Adapt resources for your courses, programs, or campus.
• Grow the repository. Contribute your own teaching and learning resources so others can learn from, adapt, and build on your work.

Together, we can expand opportunities for pro-democracy education by making high-quality teaching and learning resources available to every college and university.
