Patricia A. Marshall
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, Fitchburg State University
Patricia A. Marshall was appointed as the provost and vice president for academic affairs at Fitchburg State University in July 2022. In her role as Fitchburg State University’s chief academic officer, she oversees major curricular initiatives and supervises the deans of the university’s five academic schools.
Marshall previously served as deputy commissioner for academic affairs and student success at the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education from 2015–22. She was recognized for her statewide work to enhance racial equity, narrow achievement gaps, and improve student success. Earlier, Marshall also served as the associate vice president for academic affairs at Worcester State University in Massachusetts.
Marshall holds a bachelor’s degree from Colby College and a Ph.D. in Hispanic studies from Brown University.
