Abstract
The article discusses adoption of Valid Assessment of Learning in Undergraduate Education (VALUE) rubrics by the University of Kansas. It highlights the university's research initiative to improve students' written communication and critical thinking skills. It indicates that the faculty designed assignments and courses for students to demonstrate their learning that could be evaluated with the use of grades, a standardized examination such as the Collegiate Learning Assessment, and VALUE rubrics.
