Abstract

The article discusses the development of Valid Assessment of Learning in Undergraduate Education (VALUE) rubrics and the adoption of VALUE on various campuses in the U.S. It states that VALUE initiative was established to test the proposition that cross-cutting rubrics could be used as an alternative to standardized tests to assess student learning. It highlights the use of the VALUE rubrics on campuses to assess student learning and to engage faculty and faculty in evaluating learning which represents a broad range of strategies for effective learning assessment.
