Abstract

The article discusses the efforts of the Massachusetts and the Multi-State Collaborative (MSC) to Advance Learning Outcomes Assessment to create a system to assess U.S. college student learning. Topics discussed include the use of the LEAP Essential Learning Outcomes and VALUE rubrics created by the Association of American Colleges and Universities (AAC&U), U.S. higher education accountability, and the use of a pilot project in Massachusetts to study its assessment.
