Few innovations have impacted higher education as deeply and swiftly as artificial intelligence has. Initially viewed simply as a threat to academic integrity, it’s now clear that AI presents far greater challenges—and opportunities.
The ready availability of generative AI, together with the growing expectation that employees across all business sectors should possess AI competencies and literacies, has made it necessary for higher education to rethink traditional approaches to pedagogy and assessment and to adopt AI competencies and literacies as learning outcomes at the course and programmatic levels. AAC&U resources, programs, and events are designed to help colleges and universities understand and address the challenges—and opportunities—of this new era of artificial intelligence.
