Laura Dorsey-Elson is the Director of the Center for Innovative Instruction & Scholarship at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. She leads in the university’s commitment to faculty development in high-impact instructional practices and teaching and learning excellence. Laura has over 25 years of professional experience in higher education as both a faculty member and an administrator. She has a Ph.D. in organizational communication, a master’s in intercultural communication and a certification in Higher Education Teaching. In addition to her work in the academy, Laura has extensive experience with faculty development and has delivered professional workshops around the globe in the areas of high-impact teaching practices, leadership development, conflict management, strategic organizational communication, change management, training and development, group dynamics & behavior, and interpersonal interactions…all from a human communications perspective. The teaching and learning applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) are Laura’s latest faculty development pursuit with interests ranging from practical teaching and learning applications and how to persuade faculty to “try one thing” to identifying productive communication and organizational change practices that institutions can use to navigate AI’s usage on their campus.
