Abstract

Empowering and promoting equitable inclusive open access to online education for all is a concept at the heart of educational development. Nevertheless, most of existing educational delivery systems do not involve people with disabilities through delivering the same educational content to all learners without taking into account neither their special needs nor their learning characteristics. One avenue to address such issue is to provide automated online recommendations of suitable accessible educational resources to learners. This paradigm holds high potential for learners with disabilities, as it could offer a significant support guiding disabled learners through the recognition as well as the retrieval of the most relevant accessible educational resources while using OER delivery systems. In this paper, we start shaping a holistic approach aiming to automatically provide online learners with the most appropriate accessible OER meeting their accessibility needs and preferences based on their contextual and usage data.
