Public Commissioner, Distance Education Accreditation Commission (DEAC)

Myk Garn is an academic innovator and strategist working in the opportunity space where teaching, learning, and technology intersect. Myk’s career has focused on the opportunity space at the intersection of teaching and technology. At DEAC, he chairs the AI Committee that is charged with developing guidelines for the appropriate use of AI in all accreditation related processes and policies. His experience centers around developing, deploying, and leading university- and state-level instructional, operational, organizational, policy, and strategic models. Most recently, he served as Associate Dean for Learning Systems (interim) at Georgia Tech. He previously had roles as the Founding Principal Investigator for the NSF AI Institute for Adult Learning and Online Education at Georgia Tech, as Assistant Vice Chancellor for New Learning Models for the University System of Georgia, Vice President of Academic Strategies at StraighterLine.com, Director of the Educational Technology Cooperative at the Southern Regional Education Board, Associate Vice President for eLearning for the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education, and Executive Director of the Kentucky Virtual Campus.
