Jonathan McMichael
AI Learning Solutions Specialist, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Arizona State University
Jonathan McMichael is an AI Strategist for Arizona State University’s Enterprise Technology. In this role, he works with students, faculty, staff, and leadership to develop values aligned and sustainable approaches to a rapidly evolving information ecosystem.
Building on his background as an educator, librarian, and designer, Jonathan leads professional and faculty development initiatives, workshops, and institutional consultations. He collaborates with teams across ASU and higher education on curricular design, helping them navigate the affordances and limitations of AI technologies.
Institutional AI solutions may be technically possible, but navigating the ethical, social, and administrative environment is just as important as developing a new tool or functionality. His role focuses on building shared knowledge, language, and mental models about AI; examining how it intersects with the values and mission of the university; and identifying where it most directly affects the learning we hope to foster in our classrooms.
He holds a BA in Education from the University of Kentucky and a Master’s degree in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
