Bethany Miller

Associate Provost & Chief Data Officer, Macalester College

Bethany Miller is the Associate Provost & Chief Data Officer at Macalester College. Bethany is an expert faculty member with the Institute on General Education and Assessment Institute and have served on multiple AAC&U research initiatives, from contributing to the creation of the most recent VALUE ADD (Assignment Design and Diagnostic) tool to the development of its forthcoming campus guide for implementing open educational resources as tools for promoting diversity, equity, and student success. She was recently named a Senior Fellow for AAC&U in the Office of Curricular and Pedagogical Innovation. Supported by an undergraduate degree in English, and a Ph.D. in Education with an emphasis in Research, Evaluation, Statistics, & Assessment, her work lays a foundation for collaboration to build shared understanding regarding equitable collection and use of data. Bethany’s interest in AI in Higher Education focuses on the nexus of data, equity, and ethical AI implementation. Bethany is currently co-authoring a book on equity-centered collaboration in the use of data to inform student and institutional success.
