Project Kaleidoscope is AAC&U's STEM Center of Higher Education reform initiatives dedicated to empowering all STEM faculty and administrators to graduate more students who are competitively trained in STEM disciplines and liberally educated for an increasingly technologically-based world. The PKAL Regional Networks provide low-cost, effective professional development opportunities for STEM faculty and administrators to foster a caring community, explore and advance modern undergraduate STEM pedagogies, disseminate findings from undergraduate STEM research and practice, and promote STEM faculty career advancement.
This year’s Massachusetts PKAL Regional Network Winter Meeting will address the following themes and provide an opportunity for STEM faculty to share updates, celebrate successes, and describe new directions in AI and undergraduate STEM teaching and learning.
Meeting themes may address (but are not limited to) the following:
AI in the STEM classroom: What has worked in your classes and curriculum?
Using AI as a tool integrating research (discipline-specific and/or pedagogy-related)
Using AI as an accessibility tool to support diverse students through pedagogical practices, faculty development, and/or academic structures
- How are you navigating AI policy in your courses?
Panel Discussion - Consideration of Ethics, Access, and Equity for AI in Academia

Join us for an eye-opening conversation with Robert Dempski (Associate Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry), Rodica Neamtu (Professor of Computer Science), and Yunus Telliel (Assistant Professor of Anthropology & Rhetoric), three of the elite Artificial Intelligence Experts at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. This conversation is to demystify topics and answer questions pertaining to the ever-evolving AI and Academia.
