VE/COIL Clinic: Positioning VE/COIL as a Strategic Institutional Priority

Overview

Virtual exchange/collaborative online international learning (VE/COIL) can advance priorities across global learning, student success, career readiness, curriculum, and institutional engagement—but sustaining that work requires more than successful individual courses.

This three-week online AAC&U VE/COIL Clinic helps participants examine where VE/COIL fits within their institution's priorities, assess conditions for growth and sustainability, engage key stakeholders, and identify practical pathways for advancing the work. Through guided reflection, applied tools, and peer exchange, participants develop an actionable strategy grounded in their own institutional context.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will

• assess institutional readiness and identify opportunities for aligning VE/COIL with existing priorities, structures, and initiatives;
• identify key stakeholders and develop strategies for building institutional understanding, support, and shared ownership; and
• develop an actionable strategy for advancing, strengthening, or institutionalizing VE/COIL within their institutional context.
