2019 PKAL Upstate New York Regional Network Meeting
Inclusive Excellence in STEM
Faculty and Administrators from 2-year & 4-year, public and private institutions are welcome to join this meeting to discuss Faculty Development for Inclusive Excellence in STEM. This meeting will be led by several institutions in the Great Lakes region who received the Howard Hughes Inclusive Excellence Awards. Participating institutions will share their project goals and methodologies, and lead a workshop on developing Inclusive Excellence in STEM faculty and student achievement. Faculty will have the opportunity to explore innovative inclusive classroom, research mentoring, and academic advising practice as well as developing concrete steps to implement new ideas at their own institution. Institutional change strategies will be explicitly discussed, along with common obstacles and strategies to overcome them.

Breakout sessions will be led by faculty and staff from HHMI-funded institutions and may focus on the following topics:
- Inclusive Classroom Practices
- Inclusive Research Mentoring
- Developing an inclusive quantitative skill center
- Classroom-based Research Experiences
- Transforming institutions
Registration-Deadline: April 3, 2019
The conference registration is online. The registration fee is $55 for professionals (faculty and administrators) and $25 for doctoral students, and includes lunch and conference materials.
Location and Schedule
The meeting will take place at Rochester Institute of Technology. Registration, coffee and networking will take place from 8:00 to 9:00 am. The meeting begins at 9:00 am and concludes at 3:15 pm. For more schedule details, please view the agenda (coming soon).
