The Hyatt Regency San Francisco is situated on the Embarcadero waterfront, across from the historic Ferry Building, and guests will enjoy views of the waterfront or the city’s Financial District. The hotel is also within five minutes—walking or via public transportation—of Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, Union Square, Ghirardelli Square, North Beach, and the Castro.  The area serves as a major transportation hub with easy access to the cable car, streetcar, BART, or ferry. The hotel has a 24-hour state-of-the-art fitness center  and offers convenient jogging/walking paths along the waterfront.


A block of rooms was reserved for AAC&U and ACAD meeting participants with the special conference rate of $239 for a single or double occupancy room. The AAC&U block is now full, but rooms do open up occasionally, and there may be Bayview Balcony Rooms available at the higher rate of $289. We suggest you make reservations online, but, if calling the hotel, please be certain to state that you are with AAC&U to receive this special rate. The conference rate is available only until December 15, 2016, and any available rooms will increase in rate after that date.

The Hilton San Francisco Financial District is in the heart of San Francisco, steps from the city’s thriving neighborhoods including North Beach, Chinatown, and the Financial District.  The hotel offers guest rooms and suites with a view of the city or of the San Francisco Bay, and includes a 24-hour fitness center.

The Hilton San Francisco Financial District is one-half mile from the Hyatt Regency (a 12-minute walk).  Guests can also take a cable car (California line) from outside the Hyatt Regency to Kearny Street, and walk two-tenths of a mile to the Hilton.

Hyatt Centric Fisherman's Wharf is located in the heart of San Francisco, walking distance to Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, and other attractions.  San Francisco’s cable cars are across the street, and the historic streetcars are one block away. 

To the Hyatt Regency:
San Francisco streetcarRegistrants can take one of the historic streetcars—leaving approximately every 6 minutes during the day—right to the Hyatt Regency. The streetcar stop is one block from the Hyatt Centric and stops outside the Hyatt Regency. The 15-minute trip is $2.25 and is available before 6:00 am to after midnight. The walk along the Embarcadero (the waterfront) is a pleasant one and takes about one-half hour.  (The distance is 1.7 miles).

USING BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit)

From San Francisco International Airport (SFO): 

  • Tickets are $8.65 each way
  • Board any San Francisco bound (north bound) train to "Embarcadero” Station
  • Trains are available every 15 to 20 minutes
  • Use the Drumm Street exit, and the hotel is located directly outside the station.

From Oakland International Airport (OAK):

  • Tickets are $10.05 each way
  • Board the San Francisco/Daly City-bound train to “Embarcadero” Station
  • Trains are available every 15 to 20 minutes
  • Use the Drumm Street exit, and the hotel is located directly outside the station.

San Francisco airport is 15 miles from the Hyatt Regency (35-40 minutes).  The cost is approximately $40-$45.



San Francisco Lorries Shuttle
Operates 4:00a.m. - 11:30p.m., seven days a week. Door to door service between SFO Airport and Hyatt Regency. Price is $17 one way per person. At the airport, look for the White and Green Vans with lettering that says Go Lorrie's at the shuttle pickup area.

San Francisco Super Shuttle Van Service
Operates 24 hours/seven days a week. Door to door service between San Francisco and the SFO Airport. From the Airport, go to the upper level (median strip or courtesy island) and look for the blue and yellow van. Price is $17 one way per person.
