LEAP Mission: Wisconsin, the first official LEAP State, has used the initiative over more than a decade to launch a series of campus action and advocacy efforts that champion the value of a liberal education for all college students. An initiative of the University of Wisconsin System, LEAP Wisconsin (see https://www.wisconsin.edu/liberal-education) seeks to increase understanding of the value and purpose of liberal education for UW System students and Wisconsin citizens.

Featured Engagement Strategy:
The Wisconsin Faculty Collaborative is a community of practice—a group of educators dedicated to improving their craft through regular interaction with one another. They designed an online innovation hub to put Wisconsin educators in conversation with one another and with anyone who is putting liberal education into practice. The hub discusses the guiding principles of liberal education, helps users to take advantage of key pedagogical tools (such as the DQP and VALUE rubrics), and encourages them to participate in the discussion by leaving questions, comments, and submitting their own material.
- The University of Wisconsin System and its campuses participated extensively in AAC&U's Give Students a Compass (2008-2011) and Quality Collaboratives (2011-2015).
- From 2005 to 2016 the UW System hosted an annual Liberal Arts Essay Scholarship Competition. Recent essay prompts included asking students to discuss unexpected, meaningful connections between a humanities class and a science class, and to write a letter to the editor of their hometown paper defending the value of a liberal arts education. Essay prompts and competition winners are listed at https://www.wisconsin.edu/liberal-education/essay-scholarship.
- In 2008, the UW System endorsed a set of shared learning goals available at https://www.wisconsin.edu/liberal-education/download/Shared-Learning-Goals.pdf. These goals are aligned intentionally with LEAP Essential Learning Outcomes.
