Institute Schedule

As this is a year-long experience beginning in July 2024, there are multiple opportunities for engagement, planning, and implementation. Key events include:

  • Institute Kickoff: July 22–23, 2024
  • Pre-spring Semester Check-In on Planning and Renewal: December 9, 2024
  • Capstone Closing Event: June 9-10, 2025

Meeting times each of these days will be 11:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

In addition to these events, the institute will also offer monthly meetings and webinars throughout the year to allow time for teams to interact with other campuses and to address timely topics of interest. Each campus team will be assigned a coach from the resident faculty. In addition to gaining their perspectives, each coach can also connect the team with expertise from other resident faculty members as needed. Asynchronous interactions across campus teams and with the Institute’s resident faculty will be encouraged and facilitated through AAC&U’s online institute platform.

Activities and Action Plans

Teams attending the institute will complete preparatory work in advance of July 22, 2024, to maximize their learning when they participate in the online kickoff event. As part of the kickoff event, each team will devise a pilot or project that they will then implement during the fall 2024 semester. Teams will use their time together in July to discover new approaches and to strategize and develop their plans.

After the kickoff event, teams are encouraged to meet on their own time to further plan to enact their fall pilot or project. Institute faculty are available to attend planning meetings and to provide guidance and perspectives along the way. As teams begin to enact their pilot or program action plans in the fall, the institute will concurrently guide campus teams in the development of larger action plans designed to facilitate the achievement of goals each team identified in their application to the institute. The goal is to help campus teams begin to enact these larger plans as the spring semester begins.

Monthly meetings and resident faculty consultation sessions will occur through the twelve months of the institute. The conclusion of the institute will take place on June 9-10, 2025. In addition to sharing the progress of each campus action plan, this final event will provide guidance and planning to ensure the work developed over the past year continues to accelerate and grow into the new academic year.

Location

All events for the institute will be held online. No travel is required, and scheduling of meeting times will take into account time zones to ensure events typically occur during regular business hours for all. While this event will be held virtually, we are hopeful, as conferences and other events begin to occur face-to-face, that there might be opportunities for some participants to gather in person.
