Building an Equitable and Inclusive STEM Community:
Best Practices for Faculty

Proposals are welcomed to share best practices in building an inclusive and equitable STEM community. We particularly welcome proposals for topics such as:

  • Efforts to build community in STEM departments among faculty and students of all levels
  • Helping students navigate the hidden curriculum (norms, values, and expectations associated with higher education)
  • Course policies that promote inclusion and equity
  • Addressing social issues of justice, acceptance, and inclusion within the context of STEM classrooms
  • The role of adjunct faculty in our STEM communities
  • Other inclusive practices for building an equitable STEM community

Proposed sessions may follow one of two formats:  a brief report (15 minute presentation) or a workshop (60 minutes).  Proposals require an abstract (250 words) along with learning outcomes (100 words).
