Student Affairs - Academic Affairs

NASPA Exemplary Programs
Each year, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) identifies and recognizes programs that successfully connect support services and students' overall learning achievements. The programs are selected by a special committee of NASPA leaders from a broad range of nominations received from across the nation. They illustrate the commitment to exemplary efforts by institutional leaders and especially those in Student Affairs. The purposes of Exemplary Programs are to recognize both recent and long established quality student affairs programs and to share these model programs with other institutions.

Vanderbilt University's Living/Learning Centers
Open to students from any school or discipline, Vanderbilt's Living/Learning Centers provide opportunities for students with special educational interests to live together in residence halls offering structured learning environments. The centers are sponsored by the Office of Housing and Judicial Affiars with the support of various academic departments and faculty members.

The Intercultural Studies Project: A Living/Learning College at St. Lawrence University
A component of the Hewlett Foundation's three-year Pluralism and Unity Program grant, The Intercultural Studies Project at St. Lawrence University is a living/learning center devoted to engaging faculty and students in the study of cultural diversity and the critical practices that promote it.  The project seeks to bridge academic achievements in intercultural studies with the day-to-day real lives of students, faculty, and staff in order to achieve a more inclusive campus climate and broader sense of community.  Students living in The Intercultural House enroll in Introduction to Intercultural Studies, a course that engages them in an interdisciplinary study of U.S. cultural diversity in a global and comparative context.

StudentAffairs.com — the online guide for student affairs professionals
Links to web resources, higher education news, and job postings are just the beginning of what is available on this extensive site, including Student Affairs On-Line, an e-magazine devoted to emerging issues in student affairs and technology.

American Conference of Academic Deans (ACAD) Online Community
A national organization open to all academic officers, ACAD is dedicated to creating formal and informal opportunities for deans to meet, network, and offer professional support to their colleagues in their work as academic leaders.  ACAD holds annual meetings, publishes The Resource Handbook for Academic Deans, runs national and regional workshops on faculty development and academic leadership, and forms "interest groups" to address specific topics of concern to academic deans.   The ACAD web site provides membership and meeting information, a directory of members, a news and events column, and position announcements.

AAC&U offers these resources only as possible models of interest and has not submitted each of them to any substantial peer or quality review. If you have questions about any particular resource, please contact the institution sponsoring it directly.
