AAC&U Web Site Wins Designer Award
Honored for Clarity and Ease of Use
Washington, DC—October 5, 2002—The Association of American Colleges and Universities' Web site was awarded the 2002 Standard of Excellence WebAward by the Web Marketing Association. The industry panel judged 1,300 entries on design, innovation, content, interactivity, navigation, ease of use, and use of technology.
The site received high marks from competition judges, who remarked that the newly redesigned site has "lots of good and useful information for the target audience," and that the "primary and secondary navigation is clear and easy to use."
AAC&U Web Editor Noreen O'Connor and Art Director Hugh O'Connor implemented the site redesign last spring in collaboration with AAC&U Vice President for Communications and Public Affairs Debra Humphreys, and members of the AAC&U Web committee.
"This site is the product of the many hands working hard to provide information about liberal education to our members and the larger higher education community," said AAC&U President Carol Geary Schneider;"
I am pleased that we have gotten this recognition and proud of our Web staff led by Noreen O'Connor."
The awards were announced both on the Web Marketing Associations' Web site and at Internet World conference in New York on October 1st. Other winners in the Standard of Excellence category included the Web sites of TIME Magazine, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Voice of America, The Children's Museum of Los Angeles, and The Sundance Channel.
