STEM Education Effectiveness: From Curricular Frameworks to Student Research

The meeting will focus on STEM Education Effectiveness. The morning and afternoon sessions will allow attendees to explore both curricular frameworks and aspects of undergraduate student research that lead to education benefits for developing students. Ultimately it is our hope to equip faculty and campus leaders to translate national recommendations for improving student learning and success in the various STEM disciplines into scalable and sustainable actions.
Featured speakers will include Principal Investigators from the Keck/PKAL STEM Education Effectiveness Framework team, Dr. Elizabeth Ambos, Executive Officer of the Council on Undergraduate Research (CUR), and small group discussion sessions led by various network faculty.

Location & Directions
The meeting will take place at the Cal Poly Pomona University Library. Parking passes for lot C will be reserved and available from a parking attendant under your name. CSU faculty passes from sister campuses are honored in all Cal Poly Pomona lots. A campus map and driving directions can be downloaded for your convenience.
Registration is online. The registration fee of $30 includes lunch and meeting materials. The registration deadline is January 22, 2014.
Please note, registrants will be asked to identify their preferred topic for small group discussion, from the following choices:
- Departments as units of change in undergraduate research experiences
- Integrating scientific inquiry and reasoning skills across the curriculum
- Building student research into upper division courses
- Improving the efficacy of faculty mentors
