Leadership Development Opportunities

Kaleidoscope Leadership Institute

The Kaleidoscope Leadership Institutes provides a forum for women of color aspiring to postsecondary leadership to explore issues in higher education and learn from the experiences of successful women-of-color administrators. Hosted by Coastline Community College, the 2009 institute will take place on December 2-6 in Costa Mesa, California. Registration deadline is November 30, 2009. ACE OWHE National Leadership Forum

The Office of Women in Higher Education (OWHE) at the American Council on Education (ACE) hosts several national and regional leadership forums annually to connect aspiring senior leaders with peers and potential mentors. The forums help ACE identify promising women leaders and support their advancement to the next stage of leadership. The winter 2009 national forum will take place from December 9-11 in Washington, DC. Upcoming Conferences

The Praxis of Feminist Pedagogy

The third annual Praxis of Feminist Pedagogy conference will take place on Friday, November 6, 2009, at the City University of New York’s Graduate Center. The conference “is a venue for conversation between scholars and activists across disciplines around the present state of feminist pedagogy and work on gender, both within and beyond the academy.” For more information, visit web.gc.cuny.edu/womenstudies/wgp/index.html.

Transnational Feminisms Conference

The University of Manchester (UK) will host a Transnational Feminisms conference on December 4-5, 2009. As described on the Web site, “this conference will examine how women are affected by political systems in a global climate, how feminism translates and moves across borders, and how feminism can be utilised as a methodology for understanding the transnational context.” For more information, visit www.arts.manchester.ac.uk/sage/transnationalfeminisms/.  

AAC&U Annual Meeting: The Wit, the Will…and the Wallet

AAC&U will host its 2010 Annual Meeting on January 20-23 in Washington, DC. Meeting activities will include the popular Networking Breakfast for Women Faculty and Administrators on Thursday, January 21, with speaker Michelle Asha Cooper, president of the Institute for Higher Education Policy. AAC&U affiliate Campus Women Lead (www.aacu.org/campuswomenlead) will also present a preview of its campus workshops. Sexual Violence in Conflict and Post-Conflict Zones

Editors Tonia St. Germain and Susan Dewey invite original submissions for an edited collection titled The Body of the Nation: International Efforts to Address Sexual Violence in Conflict and Post-Conflict Zones.
