Campus Women Lead

Campus Women Lead

AAC&U affiliate Campus Women Lead (CWL) promotes “a multicultural women-led agenda for the sustained transformation of higher education” through workshops, publications, and a community listserv. These projects are informed by CWL’s belief in “the capacity of each woman to exercise leadership in and from whatever position she holds; the necessity of multicultural alliances across multiple identities, communities, and sectors of our institutions; and the transformational power of women acting individually, collectively, and strategically” (from the Web site). For more information about CWL projects and initiatives, visit www.aacu.org/campuswomenlead.

Spectrum Initiative

Spectrum Initiative

The American Council on Education (ACE) is working to diversify higher education’s executive leadership through the Spectrum Initiative: Advancing Diversity in the College Presidency. As outlined on the ACE Web site, the initiative’s goals are: “to broaden and strengthen the leadership pipeline for women and racial/ethnic minority administrators and prepare them for senior leadership positions in higher education; to ensure that the presidential search and selection process is widely inclusive; and to promote on-campus leadership development, mentoring, and succession planning.” For more information and related publications, visit www.acenet.edu.

Diversifying the Leadership of Women’s Research Centers

Diversifying Leadership

The National Council of Research on Women (NCRW) is currently sponsoring Diversifying the Leadership of Women’s Research Centers, a two-year initiative to increase the participation of historically underrepresented women of color as leaders within NCRW member centers. In support of this goal, NCRW has awarded Ford Foundation-funded grants to six centers with the goal of advancing their work to promote diverse and inclusive leadership. For more information about the initiative and to access NCRW’s higher education resources, visit www.ncrw.org.

The Web site includes resources such as an archive of the SCW’s newsletter, the Muse. For more information, visit www.myacpa.org/sc/scw/.

Center for Women’s Intercultural Leadership

Center for Women's Intercultural Leadership

Saint Mary’s College advances women’s intercultural knowledge and competence through its Center for Women’s Intercultural Leadership (CWIL). Of particular note is the center’s Catalyst Trip, which connects Saint Mary’s faculty, staff, and students with community leaders in a weeklong journey exploring questions of power and privilege.
