Feminist Teacher: A Journal of Practices, Theories, and Scholarship of Feminist Teaching
Feminist Teacher

Feminist Teacher, established in 1984 and currently edited by Gail E. Cohee and Theresa D. Kemp, has led the way for discussions on pedagogical responses to and strategies for combating sexism, racism, homophobia, and other forms of oppression. With articles written primarily for and about educators, Feminist Teacher has provided a forum in which contributors can share best practices, stories of success and failure, and discuss and debate the current status of feminist pedagogy and teachers. The journal also remains committed to examining the current climate and issues of primary importance to contemporary educators who may be facing resistance from many directions. The institutional subscription price is $75.00 ($95.00 for non-US) and the individual subscription rate is $30.00 ($50.00 for non-US).

Core List of Feminist Pedagogy

The Core List of Feminist Pedagogy, which is part of the University of Wisconsin System's Women's Studies Core Books database (http://digital.library.wisc.edu/1711.dl/ACRLWSS), provides a comprehensive collection of works on feminist pedagogy. There are fifteen new titles and over sixty titles that have appeared on past lists. The list was updated in January 2003 and includes only English-language books. As of November 2002, all of the books listed were in print. This list was compiled by Amy Robb, sponsored by the Women's Studies Section and the Collection Development Committee of the University of Wisconsin System, and is distributed by the University of Wisconsin System Women's Studies Librarian's Office.

Model Campus Sexual Assault and Sexual Harassment Policies
Model Campus Sexual and Sexual Harassment Policies

Campus Action's Inter-Campus Sexual Assault Taskforce drew on several universities' policies and protocols to compile these models. The pages include an introduction to and definitions of sexual assault and sexual harassment, examples of educational outreach, and model safety policies, support services, university response protocol, and judicial policies. Campus Action, an Albany, NY-based multi-racial organization that promotes a progressive social change movement and educates and supports student activists, encourages campus activists to use this list as a tool for strengthening their own universities' policies.

How to Handle Disruptive Classroom Behavior
How to Handle Disruptive Classroom Behavior

Bernice Sandler offers suggestions for how administrators and faculty can respond to students' aggressive or disruptive behavior in the classroom. Sandler urges both faculty and administrators to take such harassment seriously and to respond quickly and publicly when incidents occur. Administrative responses may include invoking student disciplinary procedures or providing training and education to students likely to engage in such behavior. For faculty, Sandler suggests a range of responses, both public and private, and encourages faculty to learn about relevant campus policies.

"Sexual Harassment: Suggested Policy for Handling Complaints"

Initially adopted in 1984 and revised in 1990 and again in 1995 by AAUP's Committee on the Status of Women in the Academic Profession, "Sexual Harassment: Suggested Policy and Procedures for Handling Complaints" makes recommendations for policies and procedures that establish genuine internal recourse while also protecting academic freedom and due process for those accused.
