| The Third Annual AAC&U Network Conference
on the power of Learning Communities: Research Informing Practice
was held April 10-12,2003 in Phoenix, AZ.. This conference
showcased evidence in support of the progressive pedagogical
structures associated with learning communities as well as
the best practices for deepening student learning. The conference
featured nuts and bolts approaches and take away materials
that can be adapted to your campus efforts. Our goal was to
provide the latest research in Learning Communities practice
as well as to cultivate a rich resource of colleagues and
provide materials for your work. The program followed six
tracks:
- Track I: Research and Assessment
- Track II: Effective Practices Using Progressive Pedagogies
- Track III: Partnering with Student Affairs
- Track IV: Leading and Sustaining Change
- Track V: Learning Through Successful Models and Case Studies
- Track VI: Diversity and Learning Communities
As part of the Network for Academic Renewal, our goal is to provide the latest advances of research in Learning Communities practice as well as to cultivate a rich resource of colleagues and materials to help inform work.
The National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) represents over 1,500 colleges and universities and 8,000 individual members to promote excellence in student affairs.
The Washington Center for Improving the Quality of Undergraduate Education is a consortium of public and private, two- and four-year colleges throughout the state of Washington, offering retreats, workshops, conferences, and publications focusing on interdisciplinary, collaborative, and pluralistic learning for students at all levels of higher education.
