2003 Institute on General Education
May 31-June 4, 2003
In collaboration with the University of North Carolina at Asheville
The Institute on General Education, in its thirteenth year, was designed to provide institutional teams a time and a place for sustained collaborative work on a general education project of importance to their home campuses. The Institute offered a comprehensive approach to general education reform with emphasis upon developing institutional strategies, processes, models, assessments, and links between general education and the major. The schedule included blocks of time for teams to work by themselves, with other teams, and a group of resident consultants. The optional presentations, workshops, and discussions on key topics provided further stimulation. Reports from the approximately 250 institutions that have so far participated in the Institute attest enthusiastically to the lasting value of participation.
The Institute Brochure and Application are available in PDF format for more information about the curriculum and faculty of the 2003 Institute.
