2004 Greater Expectations Institute: Campus Leadership for Student Engagement, Inclusion, and Achievement

The fourth annual Greater Expectations Institute drew 170 participants representing twenty-nine institutions. While in Snowbird, teams developed campus-specific plans to align institutional purposes, policies, structures and practices to encourage the engagement, inclusion, and high achievement of all students.
Specific topics examined included aligning leadership to deepened student learning creating engaged learning communities, and the benefits of inclusion. AAC&U would like to thank the Institute participants for their contributions to the sessions and informal conversation throughout the event and wish them all the best as they return to campus to implement their initiatives.

Nine of the campuses participating in the 2004 Institute served as pilot institutions for AAC&U's Ford Foundation-supported project, Inclusive Excellence: Diversity, Inclusion, and Institutional Renewal. The pilot institutions are Eastern New Mexico University, Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis, Occidental College, Prince George's Community College, Stanford University, State University of New York at Stony Brook, University of Akron, University of Louisville, and Wheaton College. Participants from these campuses provided feedback on the papers developed for the Inclusive Excellence project.
