2010 Greater Expectations Institute
Leadership to Make Excellence Inclusive

June 15-19, 2010 | Vanderbilt University | Nashville, TN

Institute Faculty

Institute participants will work with nationally recognized scholars and practitioners in the areas of institutional renewal; campus capacity building; leadership development; and student inclusion, engagement, and high achievement. Each team is assigned an Institute faculty liaison who will mentor team members throughout the Institute. In addition, team consultations provide multiple opportunities for teams to work with all Institute faculty members to examine their goals and build their capacity to broaden, deepen, and sustain educational change efforts.

Adjunct Faculty

The Institute will also engage experts from Belmont University, Fisk University, Vanderbilt University, and other area AAC&U member colleges and universities to consult with campus teams during the Institute. They will address academic and student life issues as well as the challenges of student engagement, inclusion, and success that are essential to the work of the selected teams.

M. Christopher Brown II, executive vice president and provost, Fisk University
Areas of expertise: academic governance/administration; strategic change management; transformational leadership; institutional effectiveness; organizational assessment; institutional contexts (particularly historically black colleges and universities); educational equity and inclusion; faculty roles and responsibility; and curricular innovation

Mark Taylor Dalhouse, lecturer in History and director of the Office of Active Citizenship & Service, Vanderbilt University
Area of expertise: educating for personal and social responsibility

Ken Spring, associate professor of Sociology, Belmont University
Areas of expertise: first year experience, community-based learning

Special Plenary Speaker

Jane Wellman, executive director of Delta Project, will be a special guest panelist on a plenary on institutional change that endures through tough economic times.
