INSTITUTE CURRICULUM

Themes addressed in the advance readings, presentations, and discussions will include:

  • meeting greater expectations for student accomplishment;
  • nurturing cognitive complexity and intercultural learning; making academic excellence inclusive;
  • creating designs for new academic excellence and effective assessment;
  • advancing intellectual identity and student learning outcomes, and closing achievement gaps;
  • leading academic change; engaging diversity as an educational resource and catalyst for institutional renewal; and
  • involving students, departments, and staff in comprehensive educational change.

The Institute emphasizes active participation in a relaxed environment that fosters open communication within and across teams, and with the Institute faculty. The schedule features:

  • daily team time to work extensively on developing your own campus plans;
  • seminars and interactions with other teams to discuss research, successful institutional change initiatives, and effective practices;
  • specialized consultation with Institute faculty to address specific challenges institutions face in coordinating an array of learning-centered efforts.
