Diversity and Learning: A Defining Moment

Edgar F. Beckham Student Diversity Leadership Symposium
Mobilizing Knowledge: Transforming the Future of Diversity

Preliminary Program

AAC&U invites students to join in the Diversity and Learning conference and the pre-conference Symposium designed especially for students.  Students can register for the conference and pre-conference Symposium on the conference registration form for a total fee of $125 ($75 Student Registration Fee for the conference; $50 for pre-conference Symposium.)

This Student Diversity Leadership Symposium will mobilize students to actively participate in and influence a national higher education conference organized around defining new directions for and understandings of diversity work. It also seeks to expand students’ capacities to transform their home institutions on their return. This pre-conference Symposium will focus on collaborative leadership, building multicultural alliances, and other skill building, as well as exploring the relation of identity/ies both to change efforts and to deepening understandings and constructions of diversity. The pre-conference Symposium and larger Diversity and Learning conference will provide students with the environment and opportunity for their expertise to emerge and be recognized. Lunch will be included in the Symposium.

Student involvement in the Symposium and Conference is being organized and facilitated by Natalie Jellinek, Editor, Diversity Web, AAC&U, Amy Addams, Editor, On Campus With Women, Office of Diversity, Equity, and Global Initiatives, AAC&U.

For more information please contact Natalie or Amy at 202.387.3760 or StudentDiversity@aacu.org.
