AAC&U Annual Meeting
January 25-28, 2012
Washington, DC
HOTEL UPDATE AS OF JANUARY 17
The Grand Hyatt – site of all conference activities – and all three overflow hotels (Renaissance Washington, Hamilton Crowne Plaza, and Marriott Metro Center) are now sold out of the AAC&U block, with the exception of Saturday night. These hotels may still have rooms available, but possibly not at the special AAC&U Conference rate. We suggest that you try the Grand Hyatt right before the meeting, since travel plans do change and rooms do free up. (Online rates will be the least expensive.)
The following hotels have served as overflow hotels by AAC&U in the past. They are not official overflow hotels this year and we cannot guarantee the rate, but—as of January 17—we found the following information:
Hampton Inn
901 6th Street NW
Washington, DC 20001
Room rate approx. $165-$180
The Hamilton Crowne Plaza
14th and K Street NW
Washington, DC 20005
Room rate approx $175-$190

All meeting sessions will take place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, DC. Located in Penn Quarter in downtown Washington, the Grand Hyatt is within walking distance of the National Mall and convenient to DC’s many museums and monuments. All guest rooms have access to Wireless High Speed Internet.
A block of rooms has been reserved for AAC&U and ACAD meeting participants with the special conference rate of $194 for a single occupancy room and $204 for double occupancy. Please be certain to tell the hotel that you are with AAC&U to receive this special rate.
This conference rate is available only until December 16, 2011, but we encourage participants to make hotel reservations as soon as possible. Once the AAC&U room block is sold out –often in early to mid-November and well before the cut-off date – the discounted rate will no longer apply. We cannot guarantee that an overflow hotel will offer the same low rate.
Additional Hotel Options
Anticipating that the Grand Hyatt Hotel—site of all conference activities—will sell out, AAC&U has reserved a block of rooms at two other hotels. These hotels were selected to provide AAC&U registrants convenient options for lodging at a lower cost. Both are within walking distance, although one – the Renaissance – is closer to the Grand Hyatt. The other – the Hamilton Crowne Plaza – is a slightly longer walk, but is also accessible via quick Metro ride.
