Four Points DC - BLOCK SOLD OUT
AAC&U’s most recent overflow hotel – the Four Points DC – is sold out of AAC&U’s room block.  The Four Points Hotel, however, still has rooms available at a very reasonable rate.  Please contact them directly at their website to make a reservation or call the Four Points at 202-289-7600.  (Online rates may be less expensive.)  We also suggest AAC&U registrants continue to check with the Grand Hyatt Hotel at 202-582-1234, since rooms do become available when cancellations are received (particularly closer to the meeting).

Individuals can also search website such as travelocity.com or hotels.com to find even better rates.  If you have questions, please contact Suzanne Hyers at hyers@aacu.org

Four Points by Sheraton
AAC&U’s second overflow hotel is the Four Points by Sheraton, which is located at 1201 K Street, NW – approximately 1/3 of a mile from the Grand Hyatt Hotel. The Four Points Sheraton is a 100% smoke-free hotel with free high-speed internet in all guest roomsMore information about the Four Points is available here.

Hamilton Crowne Plaza Hotel - SOLD OUT
The overflow hotel for AAC&U’s Annual Meeting is the Hamilton Crowne Plaza hotel, a luxury business hotel located at 14th and K Street, NW, Washington, DC.  The room rate is the same as the Grand Hyatt Hotel – $179 – and reservations are available by calling 1-800-263-9802.  Please be sure to mention that you are with AAC&U to get this special rate.

The Hamilton Crowne Plaza is within walking distance from the Grand Hyatt, located at 11th and H Street, NW.  Guests can also take the McPherson Square Metro, which is one block from the Crowne Plaza, and go one stop to Metro Center.  The 11th Street exit at Metro Center goes directly into the lobby of the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

The Hamilton Crowne Plaza is a 1920s boutique style hotel that combines the tradition of Washington with modern amenities, including high speed Internet, a fitness center, and a business center.  More information about the Hamilton Crowne Plaza is available here.

Conference Activities and Meeting Sessions at Grand Hyatt Hotel
All meeting sessions will take place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Washington, DC.  Located in Penn Quarter in downtown Washington, the Grand Hyatt is within walking distance of the National Mall and convenient to DC’s many museums and monuments.  All guest rooms have access to Wireless High Speed Internet.

A block of rooms has been reserved for AAC&U and ACAD meeting participants with the special conference rate of $179 for a single occupancy room and $189 for double occupancy.  Please be certain to tell the hotel that you are with AAC&U to receive this special rate.

This conference rate is available only until December 11, 2009, but we encourage participants to make hotel reservations as soon as possible.  Once the AAC&U room block is sold out –often in mid-November and well before the cut-off date – the discounted rate will no longer apply.  We cannot guarantee than an overflow hotel will offer the same low rate.

Transportation

The Grand Hyatt is 15 minutes from Reagan Washington National Airport by car or by the metro subway system (accessible from the Grand Hyatt’s lobby); and approximately one hour from the Baltimore-Washington International Airport or Dulles International Airport.  Washington is also easily accessible by Amtrak, and Union Station is less than 10 minutes from the Grand Hyatt by car or by metro.
