LEAP Campus Action Network (CAN)
Workshops and Events
Annually, the LEAP Campus Action Network (CAN) hosts a number of workshops and events connected to AAC&U meetings and also spotlights LEAP-related workshop and events hosted by CAN members.
Free Regional LEAP Workshops
CAN hosts free LEAP workshops for individuals from CAN member institutions just before each of AAC&U’s four Network for Academic Renewal conferences. Individuals from CAN member institutions both in the region and registered for the conference are invited. Workshops relate to the conference theme and feature promising programs from CAN institutions. They are designed to enhance participants’ campus work on LEAP-related issues.
LEAP Breakfast Forum
Individuals from CAN member campuses attending AAC&U’s Annual Meeting are invited to an annual breakfast forum designed to address pressing issues faced by CAN institutions, share member practices, and help chart future activities for CAN.

Making a Difference: The Role of High-Impact Practices in Underserved Student Success
Thursday, October 21, 2010, 2-5 pm | Westin Galleria, Houston, TX
What steps can leaders take to infuse and institutionalize high-impact practices throughout campus so that all students benefit from these engaged learning practices? What high-impact practices seem to make a particular difference for students who have historically been underserved by the academy? How are robust student success initiatives benefiting both students and institutions, more broadly? Featuring CAN members the University of Houston-Downtown and Kapi’olani Community College (U. Hawaii), this LEAP workshop will place high-impact practices such as service learning, intercultural learning, undergraduate research, learning communities, and intentional academic advising in the context of underserved student success. The workshop will engage participants in strategies for implementing, assessing, and institutionalizing high-impact practices that make a real difference in student achievement.
