About the Request for Proposals

Request for Proposals:
2010-2012

Engaged Learning, Student Civic Development and Student Well-Being

Proposals are requested for projects during 2010-2012 in the following categories that address one of the two following emphases:

1) Institutional efforts to examine, learn from and to make sustainable initiatives that foster the gains from the relationship between college students’ civic development and their psychosocial well-being; and

2) Institutional ability to demonstrate the evaluation and sustainability of initiatives that address the increasing opportunities for students to have transformative educational experiences and for institutions to transform
priorities and practices so as to make such experiences both expected and provided.

Category I Mini-Grants and Student Programming Grants
Up to $2,500. Matching support is not required. Multiple mini-grants from an institution for separate projects are permitted.

Category II Program or Research Initiative Grants
Up to $10,000. Institutional matching support is expected. May be renewable. Proposals accepted on quarterly deadlines (see below).

Category III Demonstration Site Grants
Up to $75,000 per year for two years, totaling $150,000. Institutional matching support is required. May be renewable.

Proposal Deadlines:

Category I Mini Grants
: Rolling application and awards. Proposals may be submitted at any time beginning Jan. 15, 2010, and are awarded on a rolling basis.

Category II Program & Research Initiative Grants : Proposals accepted on quarterly deadlines: March 1; June 1; September 1; December 1 of each year of new funding period 2010-2012 (2010 & 2011); Award announcements made one month after each deadline.

For Category I & Category II Grants: Please limit to 5 pages. Supporting materials are not required or requested, however if you find their inclusion necessary they are not considered in the 5 page limit. Please submit only one hard or electronic copy and include a cover letter with principal contact name, address, phone number and email address.

Category III Demonstration Site Grants: Applications are due January 15, 2010 and the award announcement will be made March 15, 2010.

For all proposals (Cat. I-III) submitted for the 2010-2012 funding cycle, funds will be available beginning July 1, 2010.
