June 2003

AAC&U officers and staff regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak on the value of liberal education at various media and public affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives. We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your campus.

On June 14, President Carol Geary Schneider speaks on current AAC&U educational priorities at a plenary session during the annual meeting of the American Association of University Professors, "Liberal Education and Social Responsibility," in Washington, DC.

Andrea Leskes, vice president for education and quality initiatives, will speak at the meeting of the Associated New American Colleges (ANAC) in Richmond, Virginia, on June 18-19.

Heather Wathington, director of programs, and Michelle Asha Cooper, program associate, both in the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Global Initiatives, gave a presentation entitled "Portraits of Interactions: Student Intergroup Relations Across Racial/Ethnic Communities" on May 28 at the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in San Francisco, California.
