January/February, 2003

AAC&U officers and staff regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak on the value of liberal education at various media and public affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives. We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your campus.

Caryn McTighe Musil, vice president of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Global Initiatives, hosted the National Advisory board meeting of the National Initiative for Women in Higher Education (NIWHE) January 25, 2003 in Seattle. NIWHE is a coalition of campus leaders and non-profit organizations working to promote gender equity and transformational leadership by women in the academy. Musil will be a plenary speaker on Women and Leadership in Higher Education as part of a North Dakota statewide diversity conference for the eleven colleges and universities in the state. The conference will be hosted by Dickinson State University in Dickinson, ND.

As part of AAC&U's Presidents' Campaign for the Advancement of Liberal Learning, AAC&U President Carol Schneider will be the keynote speaker at a Campus Community Dialogue being hosted by Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff on February 3rd. The following week (Feb 10-12), she will visit Miami University in Oxford, Ohio to speak on models for leadership and meet with administrators and faculty about AAC&U's Greater Expectations report.
