AAC&U officers and staff regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak on the value of liberal education at various media and public affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives. We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your campus.


Carol Geary Schneider, AAC&U president, spoke at Louisiana State University-Alexandria on January 5, 2010. She gave a speech to faculty and staff titled, “Educating Intentional Learners: The Challenge of Connecting Learning.” Schneider will speak at Shepherd University in Shepherdson, West Virginia, on February 2, where will talk to faculty, staff, and administrators about general education, liberal education, and intentional practice across the curriculum.Schneider also will visit John Jay College of Criminal Justice (CUNY) in New York City on February 11. She will give a public lecture on the current reform efforts within general education.


Alma R. Clayton-Pedersen, AAC&U vice president for education and institutional renewal, will discuss the Making Excellence Inclusive initiative with the St. John’s University administration, faculty, and staff at the Jamaica, New York, campus, on February 10.  She also will deliver the keynote address at St. John’s Martin Luther King, Jr. dinner at the Queens, New York, campus on February 11. On February 27, Clayton-Pedersen will give a keynote address on blending research, teaching, and service effectively to make excellence inclusive at the Education Symposium for Research and Innovations, hosted by the George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development.
