AAC&U officers and staff
regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally
the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools
through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in
more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak
on the value of liberal education at various media and public
affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the
membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives.
We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your

Carol Geary Schneider, AAC&U president, will travel to Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, on May 4 to give a keynote address to all faculty regarding current trends in higher education, and particularly those high-impact educational practices that lead to increased student success. She will also give a workshop to the faculty about integration of general education into the professional majors. On May 17, Schneider will receive an honorary degree from St. Lawrence University in Canton, New York.
Alma R. Clayton-Pedersen, AAC&U vice president for education and institutional renewal, attended the University of Wisconsin System’s Office of Professional and Instructional Development conference, Pedagogies of Hope: Inspiring, Understanding, and Assessing Student Learning, on April 17-18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. On May 7, Clayton-Pedersen will give the keynote address on building capacity for inclusive excellence at the Pacific Northwest Higher Education Teaching and Learning Conference in Wenatchee, Washington. On May 12, Clayton-Pedersen will attend the Educational Summit cohosted by AAC&U and Achieve in Chicago, Illinois, and on May 14, she will give an address at the New Century College commencement at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
Caryn McTighe Musil, AAC&U senior vice president, presented a one-day workshop at the Illinois Network for Women in Higher Education’s annual meeting in Urbana-Champaign, Illinois, on April 24, 2009. The workshop, titled “Leading from Where You Are: Breaking the Silences, Building Multicultural Alliances for Change,” was part of the AAC&U-affiliated Campus Women Lead project and was cofacilitated by Campus Women Lead members Gladys Brown and Kathleen Wong (Lau).
