AAC&U officers and staff
regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally
the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools
through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in
more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak
on the value of liberal education at various media and public
affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the
membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives.
We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your
campus.
Carol Geary Schneider, AAC&U president, will participate in the Lumina Foundation’s launch of a pilot tuning project. Four states have been invited by the Lumina Foundation to work on defining learning outcomes in the disciplines, which is linked to the Bologna Process’s own tuning project. Schneider will also participate in the Bringing Theory to Practice Leadership Coalition Follow-Up Conference on April 19-20 in Washington, DC. Participants will continue work begun last fall on directional and transformative change on campus through presidential leadership.
Susan Albertine, AAC&U senior director for LEAP states initiatives, gave a presentation on March 25 about LEAP at a meeting of the Virginia P-16 Council in Richmond. On April 17, Albertine will deliver a keynote address titled, “General Education for the 21st Century: New Directions, NEW ERA,” at the Conference on the Future of General Education in Northeast Wisconsin, held at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College by NEW ERA Faculty Dialogue Group (see www.neweraonline.org).
Alma R. Clayton-Pedersen, AAC&U vice president for education and institutional renewal, attended the Alliance for Excellent Education program on Accelerated Learning for All: How Access to College Courses Can Help Struggling Students Graduate from High School and Succeed in College and Work, on March 25 in Washington, DC.
Terrel Rhodes, AAC&U vice president for quality, curriculum, and assessment, delivered a keynote address on essential learning outcomes for the twenty-first century at Northern Illinois University on April 2. On April 9, he will present at a workshop on general education outcomes and assessment strategies at Edward Waters University in Jacksonville, Florida. On April 16, Rhodes will give a presentation on assessment at the Western Association of Schools and Colleges annual conference in Los Angeles, California, and on April 20, he will speak to a group of educators at the Higher Learning Commission meeting in Chicago, Illinois. |
