AAC&U officers and staff
regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally
the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools
through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in
more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak
on the value of liberal education at various media and public
affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the
membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives.
We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your

Carol Geary Schneider, AAC&U president, will give the keynote address to faculty at Oregon State University for University Day on September 18. Her visit to OSU will be centered on revitalizing the teaching mission among faculty. Along with her address, she will participate in a faculty panel discussion about recent innovations by OSU faculty in the classroom to support student success. On September 22, Schneider will participate in a panel to discuss accreditation issues at the Council for Higher Education Accreditation’s first National Accreditation Forum in Washington, DC. The aims of the forum are to develop an agenda to enhance public confidence in accreditation and address core issues and concerns at the heart of the accreditation-federal government relationship.
Alma Clayton-Pedersen, AAC&U vice president for education and institutional renewal, will give a presentation about making excellence inclusive to the West Michigan Presidents Compact Committee at Hope College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on September 16. On September 17 and 18, she will consult with faculty, students, and administrators, and conduct a workshop on inclusive excellence at the Holy Family University Diversity Summit in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. On September 19, she will facilitate an academic senate retreat focused on topics related to inclusive excellence at California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, California.
Terrel Rhodes, AAC&U vice president for quality, curriculum, and assessment, conducted a workshop August 20 with faculty and administrators at Keuka College in New York on assessing the campus’ revised general education curriculum. On August 25, he met with a group of senior administrators from Taiwanese universities on accountability and learning outcomes as part of an American Council on Education program.
