AAC&U officers and staff
regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally
the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools
through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in
more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak
on the value of liberal education at various media and public
affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the
membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives.
We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your
campus.
Carol Geary Schneider, AAC&U president, will visit and speak at four AAC&U member institutions in the month of March: Transylvania University, St. Louis Community College, Utah Valley State College, and Salt Lake Community College. She also will speak at the annual conference of the National Education Association in Washington, DC, on March 29.
Terrel Rhodes, AAC&U vice president for quality, curriculum, and assessment, traveled to Ottawa, Canada, on February 5 and 6 at the invitation of the Learning Policy Directorate of Canada’s federal department of Human Resources and Social Development. On February 19, Rhodes met with a strategic planning council at Southern New Hampshire University to discuss national trends in higher education assessment and policy and AAC&U essential learning outcomes.
Kevin Hovland, AAC&U director of global learning and curricular change, will lead a workshop on assessing global awareness at the March 28 New England Educational Assessment Network meeting, “Dialogues Across the Disciplines: Focusing on General Education Outcomes.” More information about the meeting can be found at www.neean.org. Hovland also participated in the 65th Annual Meeting of the Association for Prevention Teaching and Research, February 21-22, in Austin, Texas, as part of the Educated Citizen and Public Health project—a partnership between AAC&U and APTR.
