AAC&U officers and staff
regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally
the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools
through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in
more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak
on the value of liberal education at various media and public
affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the
membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives.
We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your
campus.
Carol Geary Schneider, AAC&U president, will visit and speak at three AAC&U member institutions in the month of April: Utah Valley State College, Salt Lake Community College, and Elizabethtown College. Schneider will also speak at the President’s Roundtable at the College of Wooster for Wooster President Grant Cornwell’s inauguration on April 27.
Alma R. Clayton-Pedersen, AAC&U vice president for education and institutional renewal, made a presentation titled, “Using Research to Inform the Practice of Making Excellence Inclusive,” as part of Kansas State University’s Provost Lecture Series. She engaged faculty, staff, students, and administrators in a discussion of the topic following the March 26 presentation.
Debra Humphreys, AAC&U vice president for communications and public affairs, presented on a panel, “Defending Effective Accountability and Assessment Practices,” at the NEA-AFT Higher Education Joint Conference in Washington, DC, on March 29. She also gave a presentation on AAC&U’s LEAP initiative at a meeting of the Associated Colleges of the Midwest, also in Washington, DC, on April 2.
Terrel Rhodes, AAC&U vice president for quality, curriculum, and assessment, traveled to the University of Michigan–Flint on March 6-7 for a faculty/staff assessment summit in conjunction with the ongoing campus adoption of student learning outcomes for general education. Rhodes will also give presentations on rubrics and e-portfolios as part of AAC&U’s VALUE project at the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, April 11-15; the Western Association of Schools and Colleges annual Academic Resource Conference (with Ross Miller), April 16-19; and at North Carolina State’s annual assessment conference in Raleigh, NC, April 25-26.
