AAC&U officers and staff
regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally
the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools
through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in
more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak
on the value of liberal education at various media and public
affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the
membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives.
We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your
campus.
AAC&U President Carol Geary Schneider participated in events celebrating the centennial of the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching on November 15 and 16. On November 30, she served on a panel focusing on student success and learning accountability at a meeting of the SunGard Higher Education Executive Advisory Council.
Alma Clayton-Pedersen, AAC&U vice president for education and institutional renewal, traveled to Harvard University on November 14 for an invitational meeting on community-based programs that increase college access and success for students from underserved populations. On November 15, Clayton-Pedersen, along with AAC&U Vice President for Quality, Curriculum, and Assessment Terrel Rhodes and Director of Programs for Quality, Curriculum, and Assessment Ross Miller, met with administrators from the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee University. The administrators are seeking to establish an American-style higher education institution in partnership with the George Washington University. From November 28 to December 2, Clayton-Pedersen served as part of the American delegation at a Eurasia Foundation meeting in London, where she discussed the peer review process.
