| AAC&U officers
and staff regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally
the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools
through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in
more informal gatherings.AAC&U staff also regularly speak
on the value of liberal education at various media and public
affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the
membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives.
We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your

AAC&U President Carol Geary Schneider
traveled to Ocean City, Maryland, on June 1 to deliver the
plenary address at the Maryland Community Colleges Academic
Leadership Conference. She will travel to Missouri on June
15 to participate in a panel titled "Future Challenges in
Higher Education: The Perspective from National Associations"
at a symposium sponsored by Drury University and the Associated
New American Colleges, "Futures in Higher Education: A 2020
Outlook for Colleges and Universities."
AAC&U Vice
President for Communications and Public Affairs Debra Humphreys
delivered a plenary address at the national community
college conversation on the question, "What does it mean to
be an educated person in the 21st century?" This meeting,
held at Mesa Community College on May 19, was part of a series
of conversations supported by the National Science Foundation.
The series included four regional conversations organized
by Project Kaleidoscope, a LEAP organizational partner.
Andrea Leskes, AAC&U
vice president for education and quality initiatives,
will travel to Florida International University on June 17
to deliver a presentation on assessing general education programs.
