September 2004

AAC&U officers and staff regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak on the value of liberal education at various media and public affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives. We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your campus.

Barbara A. Hill, senior fellow at AAC&U, traveled to Northland Community and Technical College in East Grand Forks and Thief River Falls, Minnesota, August 17-18. She consulted with the college on how to achieve liberal learning outcomes for all students, regardless of major.

Debra Humphreys, AAC&U vice president for communications and public affairs, will deliver the keynote address at a Campus-Community Dialogue sponsored by Southern Connecticut State University on October 1. This event is a part of AAC&U's Presidents' Campaign for the Advancement of Liberal Learning.

Andres Leskes, AAC&U vice president for educational and quality initiatives, will present at "Leading Through a Perfect Storm!"--a conversation hosted by the New England Chapter of the American Council on Education and the National Network of Women Leaders in Higher Education--on September 23. The following day, she will give a presentation on Greater Expectations at Saint Anselm College for the eleventh annual Academic Affairs fall conference.
