June 2004

AAC&U officers and staff regularly travel throughout the country, and occasionally the world, to speak and consult at AAC&U member schools through seminars, institutes, and workshops as well as in more informal gatherings. AAC&U staff also regularly speak on the value of liberal education at various media and public affairs events. These meetings are an opportunity for the membership to influence the direction of AAC&U's initiatives. We look forward to seeing you the next time we are on your campus.

Andrea Leskes, vice president for education and quality initiatives, spoke at the Maryland Community Colleges Academic Leadership Conference in Ocean City, Maryland on June 3. The theme of the conference was "Greater Expectations Explored."

Debra Humphreys, vice president for communications and public affairs, will participate in the University of Delaware's annual General Education Institute June 8-9. She will deliver an opening address, "Diversity and General Education: National Trends and the Impact on Student Learning," and conduct a workshop on "Diversity in the Classroom and the Curriculum: Multiple Strategies for Maximizing Impact."
